The Makerspace

Student Ambassador for 3D printing

Recognizing the lack of student engagement in our university’s makerspace- stock full of 3D printers, laser cutters, sticker machines, and lots more- I initiated and developed a Student Ambassadorship Programme to foster a more active, inclusive, and collaborative environment.

The programme was created in close alignment with the course objectives and the vision of the faculty, aiming to bridge the gap between students and the technical resources available. As the first official Student Ambassador, I led outreach efforts, organised peer support sessions, introduced workshops, and created a welcoming culture of peer-to-peer learning.

Since its launch, the Makerspace I always knew and loved has transformed into a vibrant, high-traffic hub of activity with daily student participation and a growing sense of community. I will continue serving in this role until I graduate, supporting new ambassadors and ensuring the programme’s sustainability.

The Microbot

A Homage to Big Hero 6

Trying to channel my inner Hiro Hamada, I created this model on Shaper3D and printed it with the BambuLab x1 Carbon. I printed it in separate pieces to ensure no need for supports, with a gyroid infill, and variable layer heights for a sleek and compact form- with functional details and perfected measurements like slots for magnets, and the perfect clean-cut but sketchy Pixar look. Putting it all together, it became my favourite print- and everyone else’s- I successfully got a room full of 20 something year olds to light up with familiarity and play with it with childlike joy.

The Multidisciplinary Handbag

A Homage to Myself

This handbag explores wearable art through mixed media. I designed and printed a ridged black form- later sanded, and layered with traditionally artistic elements- like a sketched on ribcage, jewellery, and a bone keychain. The illustration plays off the bag’s texture while referencing my long-lived obsession with painting human anatomy. This piece is a homage to my hands-on approach to creating- combining digital fabrication with physical craft, and using design as a space to bring different materials and disciplines together.

The Balloon Dog

A Homage to Dogs, Art, and the Joy of Smooth Prints

This is a tribute to pop culture, playfulness, and the power of smooth print settings. Inspired by Jeff Koons’ iconic work—and a general love for dogs—I modelled and printed this piece in a bold red finish, fine-tuning the settings for clean curves and a polished surface. Beyond being visually striking, it’s also a nod to the value of art in everyday life: how something as simple as a balloon animal can carry both humour and cultural weight.
